EXO Makeup Concept

Face Painting: This was totally unexpected but it was pretty cool that a form of body art was incorporated in the MAMA MV, as seen during the break dance/scream/”Turn Back” part. It might have been a tad bit scary at first, but definitely added a plus to the concept. Most probably inspired by the face painting, as adorned by Indian Americans warriors, or some form of tattoos as often seen on rockers/bikers, or inspired by comic book heroes (since EXO’s concept revolves around supernatural powers), all in all creating a fierce look.

Kai adoring the letters “FROM EXO Planet” which create a skull shape when seen from afar while Kris has a side geometric shapes face painting, inspired from mineral crystal rocks and the rest of the EXO members wearing mask and lightning bolt-shaped face paintings.

Eye Makeup: Eyeliner is a common trend for Kpop male groups going for a dark or masculine concept.

In the History and MAMA MVs, EXO’s guyliner representative Baek Hyun wears eyeliner, enhancing his eyes to create a sexy smoldering look.

Nail Art: Kai is seen wearing some dark coloured nail polish in the MAMA MV.
