SM Entertainment acquires $22 million worth of shares from travel company BT&I
On April 13th, held a meeting among board of directors and came to a conclusion to purchase 25 billion KRW (~$22 million USD) worth of shares from BT&I and have significant influence over its operations. That is about 45.45% of BT&I’s total outstanding shares. SM Entertainment will be purchasing the shares through third party allocation and BT&I will be conducting a meeting with their board of directors on this significant trade on April 29.
Through this acquisition, SM Entertainment plans to further promote and develop its drama production activities and global video content. BT&I also plans to benefit from this trade as SM’s global power will support the travel company’s global travel business.
SM Entertainment’s CEO, Kim Young Min also shared the company’s newly set goals and plans after BT&I’s acquisition. “The drama production and global video content business that we have long prepared will be largely developed through this acquisition and BT&I will become Asia’s best video content enterprise. Through this opportunity, SM Entertainment will become a large provider of music and video zhs content. In addition BT&I’s travel, leisure, and tour business will synergize with Hallyu’s developing K-Pop content. The K-Pop culture business model will be shaped through the combination of K-Pop and various business activities such as dining, fashion, accommodation services, and exhibition.”

Last November, KBS 2TV‘s ‘Star Life Theater‘ featured Girls’ Generation, but the screen captures of a certain scene have only been getting attention online recently. In one part of the documentary, the members were filmed eating backstage in their dressing room. Fans focused on Jessica for her very unique way of holding chopsticks.

Girls’ Generation appointed as ambassadors of Korea’s Retinitis Pigmentosa Society
On April 14th, Girls’ Generation‘s Sooyoung, Tiffany, Taeyeon, and Seohyun attended the ceremony of Korea’s Retinitis Pigmentosa Society and were appointed as new ambassadors for the association to help cure blindness.
Aside from the girls, Sooyoung’s father (shown in the photo) also attended the event as the association’s president, as he too, has problems with his eyesight. Sooyoung’s father, Choi Jung Nam personally handed the ambassador certification to the girls at the ceremony. Choi Jung Nam has been the president of this campaign since 2006.
Interestingly enough, netizens also took notice of Taeyeon’s petite figure as she stood by Sooyoung and Seohyun, who are one of the tallest members in the group. Lee Ha Yi receives training from her ideal type, Big Bang’s T.O.P
The Top 4 finalists were each trained under the top three agencies (SM, JYP, and YG) for the April 15th live broadcast performance.
In order to show viewers a new image along with her hidden rap skills, Lee Ha Yi selected the song “As Time Goes By” by Tasha. Although the original version of the song does not have rap in it, Lee Ha Yi met with T.O.P who had offered to help in adding the lyrics for the rap portion of the song and to help her in her rapping.

AKB48 presents the ‘AKBus’ in Miyagi
AKB48 donated 30 buses to the disaster-stricken areas to coincide with the new school year. Before their handshake event, they held a presentation ceremony, where they gifted the vehicles and keys to Miyagi’s Yamamoto City vice major, Hirama Hidehiro.
Takahashi Minami greeted, “I hope that these buses will become a means of transportation for everyone. AKB48 will continue to support in reconstructing disaster-stricken areas.” Vice mayor Hirama thanked the girls saying, “These buses we’ve received, we will use them as town buses.”

Super Junior’s Kangin officially discharged from the military, receiving warm welcome from members
Despite being busy with their ‘Super Show 4‘ concert, Super Junior members Donghae, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Eunhyuk, Leeteuk, and Sungmin all came out to welcome Kangin’s return. In their “natural style” compared to when they are on stage, the Super Junior members greeted Kangin with open arms.

The Best Sismances in K-pop

It may amuse our readers to know that it was either this friendship or Jessica and Tiffany’s. To decide, I asked Salima, Dana, and Gaya which would be better, because I only wanted one friendship from SNSD. Dana

Salima’s agreed dislike of Jessica let HyoSeo win in the end, much to

and Seohyun have a good relationship especially because they’re so

always been two of my favorite members so I’ve always enjoyed watching

The two were on Dream High together and have since been seen together on shows and out-and-about. On KBS’s Win Win, they spoke of their friendship, along with another friend, actress Yoo In-na. Also
during the show, IU mentioned having tried to convince Suzy to come on a
show with her for awhile, showing that they frequently keep in touch.
And, of course, IU patted Suzy’s butt, which made headlines months ago and made me laugh.
The friendship between 4minute’s Gayoon and Jiyoon is
perhaps one of the strongest in K-pop. Most of us know that the whole
“sisterhood” and “brotherhood” facade K-pop groups put up is just that–a
facade. SHINee’s Key once broke the hearts of millions of Shawols by revealing that he sees his group mates as co-workers
more than anything, and chances are other K-pop groups are no
different. But there are true friendships in K-pop and Jiyoon and Gayoon
are around to prove that. They have lots upon lots of sel-cas together
and this little jewel.
F(x) is all sorts of adorable and adding to their cuteness is the friendship between the members, namely Krystal and Amber.
Maybe it’s because they’re both American, maybe it’s because their job
puts them together so often, or maybe it’s because they just “click,”
but whatever the reason, Krystal and Amber are good friends and make one
of the best womances in K-pop. Amber even said that she considers Krystal close to perfect. Awwww, how sweet!
